Moving and Copying Pages and Using Links

Moving pages

You may want to restructure some of the pages in the CMS. This can be done by:

  1. Right click on the node of the page you wish to move.
  2. Select the 'Move' option.
  3. Select where you wish to move the page to. Note: not all pages are 'allowed' under certain page types — contact Semantic if you have any questions.

Copying pages

Copying pages can be very useful, especially for pages that have similar contents/layout:

  1. Right click on the node of the page you wish to copy.
  2. Select the 'Copy' option.
  3. Select where you wish to copy the page to.
  4. When copying you will also see options for 'Relate to original' (can be unchecked most of the time) and 'Include descendants' (dictates whether to copy any child pages too).

Anchor links — links to specific page sections

To link to a specific block of content on a page, first give the block an 'Alias'. This is not user-facing — it just gives the section a unique identifier. To do this:

  1. Select the block you wish to link to.
  2. Select the 'Settings' tab in the top right.
  3. Update the 'Alias' field — keep it short and separate words with a hyphen e.g. book-tickets.

You can now link straight to a specific block using the alias preceded by '#' e.g. #book-tickets.

  • From a different page: tag the alias onto the URL e.g. https://yoursite.co.uk/#book-tickets
  • From within the same page: add the alias to the 'Anchor / querystring' field in the link picker e.g. #book-tickets. You'll need to set a Link Title too.
